Been thinking a lot and doing research about where to take this Substack moving forward. The experts out there will tell you that to produce successful content and build an audience (which is the kind of thing you have to do if you want to pay your bills as a writer/podcaster) you really need to identify your niche(s).
One guy I was listening to the other day made the point that you need to find three things all members of your target audience have in common. This helps to triangulate a level of specificity that will allow you, the content producer, to effectively engage a core group and build upon that strength.
