MTS Podcast - Ep. #5: The Skinner Box
Who is pulling the levers?
Happy Tuesday, TSFers!
A new episode of Monitoring the Situation just dropped.
This week, Kale decided to surprise me by asking me not to do any prep so he could talk to me about something called, “The Skinner Box.”
I was vaguely aware of this, but intentionally avoided a deep dive so we could hash things out.
Kale thinks it’s a behavioral control model for the world we live in.
I’m not sure he’s wrong.
From the show description:
In this episode, Kale and Steve explore the concept of the "Skinner Box" and its implications for understanding human behavior, social control, and the digital age. They talk about the impact of digital surveillance, the importance of human agency and faith in navigating a complex, controlled world, the potential for awakening, the role of religious and philosophical resilience, and the hope for a future rooted in truth and human flourishing.

Oh my, you posted this two days ago and still no comments?!
Well, I must admit I have a hard time finding the time to listen. As it is, I have only listened to about half of the podcast. And I did hear you say you really like feedback, so here I am....
I must say I was shocked! shocked! that you claimed to be the Star Wars generation. Good heavens man, you weren't even born when the first movie came out. I was born in 1960, and just happened to get a new red Chevette, and what do you imagine was the very first movie I went to on my own?
Of course it was Star Wars - right when it came out. But I had no idea what the movie was. I was expecting something cheesy, and instead was immersed in a story unlike any I had every seen. And that music! It completely makes the movie. Wow!
I hereby claim Boomers are the rightful generation that owns Star Wars!!! Ha! Take that!
(Now wasn't that great feedback?)
------ And now the AI version of my feedback... -------
Two whole days without a single soul brave enough to comment? The silence is deafening!
Truth be told, I've been wrestling with my schedule like a Jedi battling the Dark Side, only managing to catch half your podcast so far. But since you practically begged for feedback with those puppy-dog eyes...
*clutches pearls dramatically*
The AUDACITY! The sheer, unmitigated gall! Claiming ownership of Star Wars when you weren't even a twinkle in your parents' eyes during that fateful 1977 summer! Here I am, a proud child of 1960, cruising in my cherry-red Chevette (yes, it was as fabulous as it sounds), deciding on a whim to catch this mysterious space flick everyone kept whispering about.
Picture this: me, expecting Grade-B sci-fi cheese, instead getting my mind absolutely obliterated by cinematic magic. That opening crawl! That John Williams score thundering through the theater! Pure euphoria coursing through my veins!
Therefore, I hereby plant the Boomer flag firmly in Star Wars territory and declare it OURS by divine right of first viewing!
*drops imaginary microphone*
(You're welcome for this absolutely stellar feedback!)
