Brings back Raleigh childhood memories of eagerly listening to the radio for school closures. North Carolinians tend to panic a bit much regarding snow, but freezing rain IS pretty scary sh-t.
You're back doing God's work it seems in warning us. You're preaching to the choir on "something big is coming down." Of course. Marian prophesy. Sticking your finger in the wind. Reading online and elsewhere. Watching youtubes. But I'm sure you will have a unique and brilliant insight, and I for one cannot wait to hear it. I predict a grid takedown, probably China-produced (it's a no-brainer) 2026 or 2027. God is allowing these awful power-straining events to get people to prep up. The fact that you're simultaniously having computer glitches means: the Old Man has recognized your work and wants to interfere. Congrats. And get used to it, as you must be from your 1P5 days. Try rubbing Vicks Vapo rub on your neck. You can get it cheap the at Dollar Tree if you're lucky. I am irked because I bought 4 buckets at Dollar Tree (for my current "scrubbing" /house rehabbing efforts in Daytona Beach, and yes, its been strangely cold here) and they all leak. I guess one gets what one pays for. Made in China, no doubt.
Good luck with this, Steve, can't wait for the essays/video/insights. Hope the storm isn't too awful. Drink hot tea with honey. Gargle with salt-dosed hot water. Take Vit C, D3, Zinc. Eat citrus fruit.
Hey man. Looking forward to the important piece, and of course the connection with OnePeterFive. I hope you and your family have been able to stay warm and well through these few days of snowpocalypse.
Steve, sounds as if you’re well prepared for the current storm, at least. I’m an NC native and here’s my advice for snow/ice storms:
Do not drive if there’s any ice on the roads. Give it longer than you’d like before deciding to drive. You may be able to handle it but most lack experience.
Food prep - canned pork and beans; canned stew (Dinty Moore plus hot sauce/sriracha/whatever to make it palatable; salami; ham that you cook ahead lasts longer than other meats; boil a dozen or so eggs in advance; gluten-free breads and crackers for you; hard cheese like cheddar. There’s not much of a problem if electricity doesn’t fail, but if it does NC municipalities may take awhile to get back up to functionality.
When your money situation improves, get a well-rated sleeping bag. You won’t need it often in NC winters but it’s good to have anyway, and you may be traveling again in northern climes.
Above all, introduce yourself and get to know a few neighbors. You’re new-ish at the apartment complex you’re in now, but being a helpful neighbor pays off. Go out and shovel, lob a few soft snowballs at kids who’ll be playing outside, and meet their parents. Apartment dwellers have networks which can be mutually helpful. Some neighbors may benefit from your checking in on them, but you need to establish some kind of trust first, even if they don’t have much in common with you on the face of it. Some can be very helpful to you, too. Make these connections even if it seems difficult.
The obvious storm is AI. But I think that's only part of it. The clue is in 1 Peter 5, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." That's NHI. That's Steven Spielberg's movie this summer.
I was talking with AI too. And in just two hours I came up with the best story I've ever had. It's a movie someone like Spielberg or M. Night Shyamalan might do. But it struck me more in how *important* it is. It could literally save America - and I mean physically not spiritually.
"I think this is really important." You said.
It honestly sounds like God is dropping really important things into certain people's lives - people who He has prepared for just a time like this. I pray God will be with you Steve. Seriously.
From the Pacific Northwest, where my forsythia bush is beginning to bloom....mowed the grass in December...buds are moving on the fruit trees, I just have to say....I've never seen anything like it.
I'm not wearing my tin foil hat at the moment, but weather modification to the detriment of life and crops has been going on for decades.
Back in the day, being a Girl Scout actually helped me become the forward thinker I am when it comes to preps for disaster. I REALLY learned the prep ropes one winter when I cooked outside, no electricity for 5 days, freezing cold, caring for my son with Autism.
But I digress.
I can't wait to read what new storm is coming, Steve. And no, the majority of people haven't a clue because, as George Baily told Potter; they're too busy doing the working and the living and the dying.
From where I sit, the storm on the horizon you refer to...let's just say...propane and canned goods might be the last thing to worry about.

Not Anne Heath formerly married to Ray, first child Maria?
No, not me. Also there's an inactive substack of an Anne Heath, also not me.

Let it snow!
