With the election now behind us, and the scale of Trump’s victory coming into focus, the vibe shift many of us have been detecting, but were too wary to give strong voice to, appears to be very real.
We felt something change the day of the first assassination attempt against Trump. Online, even people who hated him were saying that in that instant, when he stood up on stage, bloodied but unbroken, and told the audience to fight, “Trump just won the election.”
Which is why the media did everything they could to bury it.
But the American people didn’t forget. They didn’t forget that Trump is, for all his flaws, a man of indominable spirit. Few men, under the endless barrage of violent rhetoric, violent acts, and relentless lawfare, would have remained as unflappable and steadfast.
As the election got nearer, you could feel the energy in the country moving away from where we’ve been for most of the past 16 years (since Obama’s first term) and really, for even longer than that.
I can now say, with statistical proof, that the majority of Americans saw something worth believing in because of that. We feel daunted. We are overworked, underpaid, and fed up with the soaring cost of everything we need to simply live a normal existence. We do not want our tax dollars sent overseas while our cities fill up with the homeless and crime goes unpoliced. We do not want our sons to die in needless wars. We do not want the nation’s doors left unlocked, her borders undefended, as millions seeking free benefits our own citizens don’t have access to keep flooding in, changing our culture, our values, and our future.
This is really basic stuff. The fact that the American Left is so out of touch with what the citizens of this nation care most about is why they are so stunned at the totality of their defeat. They have no idea what life is like for the normal, everyday folks who live and work and raise families here, and just want a better life for their kids than the one they had.
However you feel about MAGA as a political movement — and all political movements have their excesses — the phrase, “Make America Great Again” should inspire every person who loves this country to want to strive to see it happen.
Trump not only has a mandate, having not only taken 312 electoral votes, but the popular vote as well. Depending on which count you look at, he has a surplus of around 4-5 million votes over Harris. Republicans also won the House and Senate, and conservatives remain the majority on the Supreme Court. He is no longer stymied by having to learn the ropes of governance on the job. He will make better appointments, and he is surrounded by and advised by some of the brightest minds both in and out of politics.
But what does “Make America Great Again” look like in practical terms?
There’s too much to break down in just one post, so I’ve chosen seven areas of major significance where I think we will see this administration take definitive and decisive action:
