Reading your post this morning made my dark, dreary morning a little better.
Envisioning the "What About Bob" skit in Fr. Joe's house with you and Bob, all scratches and injuries aside, would have made me laugh til my stomach hurt.
I have always tried to feign genuine concern when someone biffs it before I laugh. I'm not sure I would have been able to pull it off.
Thanks for a scene that will spark a smile all day. By the way, I hope you're not hurt☺
“In less than two seconds, Bob had taken out two very large men.” Hey listen, I’m glad everybody (demon feline included) is ok, but that line had me in stitches!
My one-year-old cat, appropriately named "Max Raptor" (and similar in appearance to BOB) also once got his head stuck in the twine handles of a brown paper bag. There was absolutely no stopping him. The noise made by the bag was shocking, especially to the cat. The twine handles stayed around his neck throughout his mad dash down a set of stairs and all around the house until most of the bag was finally torn away. I have looked at twine handles very differently since then. Your experience confirms it: twine handles and cats create chaos. Hope you and Bob recover fully!
That little stinker! Beautifully described. Of course, the cat has no injuries at all. Now he can go back to harassing Lucy and causing mayhem. Praying for your bumps and bruises.
I too have been scratched severely (several puncture wounds on face, back and side) by shelter cat #4 after 2-1/2 years of trying to tame him. Shelter cat #4 was rehomed and I'm now happily living with shelter cat #5.
My doctor INSISTED I go to the emergency room, where they cleaned the wounds, gave me antibiotics and refreshed my tetanus shot. Cat scratches are no joke!! I strongly urge you to get antibiotics....they are a minor inconvenience compared with the possibility of a serious and long-lasting illness.
Oh my goodness...poor Bob...and poor you! I have two of the sweetest cats that ever walked the earth, so I can't imagine having a demon cat...but I have witnessed the absolute panic that ensues when a cat thinks something (like a plastic grocery bag) has gotten a hold of it. So much so that I've been known to cut through bag handles to keep something like that from ever happening again. I hope neither you nor Bob have any lasting injuries. 😂
I am so sorry you and Fr. Joe fell! I hate falling down--and have, on occasion. But wait, there may be more! There's something called cat scratch fever, and I got it at about age 10 when I "rescued" my sister's new kitten which had climbed up into a tree and scratch me completely as I carried it down from the branch it had gotten itself on. So, if you develop mono-like symptoms, you'll need to get some antibiotics. I was given a penicillin shot (by the Navy, naturally, because I was a Navy brat at the time), which cured it. I hope you thoroughly washed all those scratches.
If you can't find a room (unlikely), try getting a trailer and parking it in a wonderful camp ground. Do your homework, too (try Liz Amazing on youtube, who has researched ALL makes and models). I have RV'd almost none, but I did own a Class C Sunseeker (30') for about 5 years (which mainly sat in the driveway, unused), and came to the conclusion that it was too expensive because everything kept breaking, just parked. There's a website called crankyape.com that sells: repo'd everything--cars, vans, RVs, motorcycles (avoid motorcycles--too dangerous), boats, etc. on a "auction" basis. Good luck.

I'm good. Just sore. It was worth it for the story.
I told Fr. Joe, "If I had killed that cat, you would have never let me live it down."
The shitposting would have been infinite.

A good/bad cat encounter is a win! No matter how crazy it seems, if it involves a cat, it is always true! I wonder how many lives Bob has left now?

Good luck in your search. Zillow actually lists rooms for rent nowadays. There are 246 rooms for rent in greater Raleigh, NC.
