Steve I am so nervous today😖 My family is pretty much the flipped version of everyone else out there, I guess: I (the wife) voted Trump, my husband and son voted Harris. I'm so sad that they can't see clearly the evil they're supporting. Especially because my husband is American born Chinese and I can see how he's been brainwashed by the American liberal establishment. But my father-in-law, other foreign born Chinese friends and many on the Internet (Xi Van Fleet, Lily Tang Williams, Hung Cao etc.) who have LIVED with communist/totalitarian systems can see the truth and all support trump. Anyway, I don't know what the point of this is other than: this time I haven't hidden my views from them, I've tried my best to change their minds but it hasn't worked and I'm sad. And nervous for today!! I agree with you that this election feels consequential in a new way.

I’m sorry to hear that. Sounds awful. I’ve got siblings who’ve gone to the dark side, but my wife and kids are still ok. I hope that never changes. I can only imagine how alone you feel.

Also can I just say I am HORRIFIED at the way the almost gleeful, definitely unlimited killing of unborn babies is the centerpiece of their campaign. And how many "friends" support this!!!!

Thanks for this, Steve. Loved it, especially in retrospect after things turned out well in the election.

(It might have been too depressing, otherwise! You laid out the sorry situation in the country well.) Please do more of these! And oh...I was FINALLY able to get a paid subscription started. 25th time must be the charm!

Thanks! And thanks for subscribing, I'm sorry it's been such a hassle!

I was in search of something like this around 8pm last night, after we got the kids down and my mind started to wander. I couldn't find anything worth my time. Turns out all I had to do was stay up until 3am!

Seriously, though, this was great. Listening to you this morning felt like someone giving voice to all the thoughts and trepidation ping-ponging around my mind lately. "Stacking the deck against decency" was a wonderful line—and absolutely spot on.

I especially liked your tone. It was calm, thoughtful, and deliberate. The exact opposite of a rant. In a world full of spitfired rage and "hot takes", the world needs more of this.

I'm glad I'm not the only dad who doesn't want my sons sent off to die making the world safe for democracy. I told my old man that very thing just the other day. And I'm not keen on my hard-earned tax dollars getting sent overseas to finance the killing of some other dad's boys either.

Anywhoo, I just wanted to chime in to say I enjoyed hearing you. I hope this is something you'll do a bit more of going forward. Cheers.

Thanks, I really appreciate this feedback. Yes, I do intend to do more. I need to get a podcast back up and running, but I'm a terrible planner/time manager and I keep procrastinating about it.

Not sure if you have time or interest, but here is a link of Eric Weinstein on Piers Morgan, giving his thoughts for the dreaded election:

I’m nervous about today. You articulated my concerns so well - it’s nice to know I’m not the only one who feels this way. Also I’m glad you’re praying.
